Bathroom Scales
I have trouble finding good bathroom scales. My wife would love to have a glass bathroom scale, and I do like them but they seem so fragile! I can just imagine getting on it and breaking the darn thing. She already explained to me that it’s safety glass and very strong. She has given up on convincing me. One of the problems I have with bathroom scales in general is that most of them report a different weight. I’ve had some of a certain brand that reported me weighing 1 kilogram less than on my home bathroom scale. Yeah it felt good, but which one to believe?

Another 2 kilograms off
I am actually happy with my weight today. No, I am not all of a sudden the fittest man on Earth, but losing another 2 kilograms feels like a load off my shoulders. Why exactly these last 2 kilograms make me feel this way, I don’t know. I must have hit some sort of artificial boundary that allows me to feel better about myself. And hey, I was able to stay away from those darn chocolate bars the kids were eating at a party last week! Yummy Mars and Snickers.. but I think they contain like 290 calories a piece. NOT good for someone like me. Oh well if I can just keep it up long enough i’ll be able to consume some of those in my next life without actually feeling guilty.
Wife made pancakes yesterday evening. Now normally i’d eat about 6 of them (and they are pretty big), but last night just 3. For some odd reason I wasn’t THAT hungry. Has my stomach shrunk? Or is that even possible through natural ways? Hmm something I will have to look up.
Anyway, have a good weekend.

Being Overweight Can Shorten Lifespan
Okay so we all know that obesity takes years off your overall lifespan. What I personally didn’t know was that simply being overweight (not obese) also has an effect on how many years you remain on Earth. According to Swedish research if you have been overweight since young age you are one third more likely to have a premature death. This risk is similar to smoking 10 cigarettes a day! More than 1 billion people are overweight. The figure kind of scared me. I am one of a billion.
Though some good news, I lost 1 kg last week due to intensive fitness activity. I can tell you, I am wrecked. Needed to rest the entire weekend. But in the end it feels good.
Simply being overweight, but not obese, from an early age boosts the risk of premature death by a third — as much as smoking up to 10 cigarettes a day, researchers in Sweden reported Wednesday.
People who are clinically obese by the age of 18 more than double that risk, putting themselves in the same danger zone as long-term heavy smokers of normal weight, they found.
Online Fat Loss Products – PART I
Hello everybody,
I set aside some money and time to look at various fat loss products. You must have noticed the huge market for fat loss products on the Internet. While many are probably crap and very ineffective, there are some who deserve a closer look!
The first one I am taking a look at is Fat Loss – Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle. As the title implies – this product involves burning fat and improving muscle mass. I could use some extra muscle, but first have to get rid of the excess fat – so this seems like a decent way to go about it. The product claims that bodybuilders use the same technique to get their body fat to single digits. My body fat percentage of 29% has a long way to go to get there!
The sales page states that even people who have had NO success burning fat can do it by using the techniques described in this product. Personally I have been able to decrease my body fat from 32% to 29% through regular exercising – but I’m not happy with it yet. 20% would be great!
They are selling Fat Loss – Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle for $39.95, which to me sounds reasonable. If anyone has experience with this product please submit your comments through the form below. I’d love to hear from you.

EU Takes Acomplia Off Market
I’ve always avoided using weight loss drugs, and advised friends to only use ones that have built up a solid reputation over the years. I hate to read news articles about people desperate to lose weight becoming ill due to risky drug use.
The European Union has taken Acomplia off the market. Acomplia is a weight loss drug developed by pharmaceutical group Sanofi-Aventis. The European Medicines Authority concluded that the risks involved in using the drug do not outweigh its positive effects. A recent study has shown that people taking the drug are twice more likely to develop psychiatric disorders. Now, maybe it’s just me, but i’d rather be a bit overweight than that. Interestingly, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have never actually approved the drug for sale on the US market.
Sanofi-Aventis, the French pharmaceutical group, suffered a crippling blow to the prospects for its weight-loss drug Acomplia yesterday when regulators ordered the product to be withdrawn across the European Union.
The European Medicines Authority concluded that the benefits no longer outweighed the risks for the drug – known generically as rimonabant – after reviewing data suggesting that obese and overweight patients had twice the risk of psychiatric disorders as those on a placebo.
