Christmas and New Year

Posted by george

Well Christmas was great. Except for me gaining 4 kilograms of weight! I am not blaming myself though, I am blaming my wife. She put all this nice stuff in front of me and knew I wouldn’t be able to resist. Just kidding. I already anticipated gaining weight during Christmas. I have been exercising for 3 days now and lost half of those extra kilograms. New Year is coming up so I can see myself doing a lot more intensive exercising once that is over and all the tasty food is consumed. My wife gained 3 kilograms herself so it was worth it :)

Have a great New Year.

Suburban sprawl linked to weight

Posted by george

I always enjoy reading new weight-related studies. This one is about a possible link between weight problems and suburban areas. Apparently sprawling suburbs are twice more likely to have overweight teens as more combat urban areas. Compact living areas cause you to walk more, and be more active in general.

US children who live in expansive suburbs may start to pay for it with expansive waistlines, new research suggests.

Using data from a national health survey, researchers found that teenagers living in sprawling suburbs were more than twice as likely to be overweight as teens in more compact urban areas.

The findings echo those of a 2003 study by the same researchers that focused on US adults. The researchers believe the same factors may be driving the link between suburban living and teenagers’ weight – the major one being reliance on cars.

Rowing and more.

Posted by george

I am spending more time on my rowing machine than before. It really improves your stamina and allows you to do more heavy stuff. I am really liking it. And it’s just not because of that. Christmas and New Year are coming up so it’s one of those periods that it doesn’t hurt losing as much weight as possible before the holidays start. I started 2 weeks ago and really forced myself to keep exercising and eating healthy. I lost about 1.5 kilograms so far and am pretty sure I can make it to 4 kilograms before Christmas. No doubt I will gain those 4 kilograms back after the holidays, but at least I can take it better this way! My wife feels that I should forget about weight loss during Christmas and New Year. I suppose she is right. It’s time to have fun, eat tasty stuff and enjoy yourself in general. I am ready for it!
